Coördinator

Mr. Piet Tuinstra
"The idea for this project came during an international study tour for teachers in Greece and Turkey in 2002 named ‘Tracing back Europe’. Five teachers, working on different Primary Schools in Western Europe, agreed in working together in ‘Crossing Borders’. Their most important aim was to teach children how to handle the differences between people concerning living conditions, habits and culture.
During the first meeting the group added: to overcome prejudices and discrimination. They asked me to be their coordinator. I was very motivated to accept this request. However I had to invest a lot of time, I never regretted my decision. ‘The most important aim of education is tolerance’, said Helen Keller and I agree with her with all my heart. When we will have success in reaching some understanding and tolerance between our pupils and the people they will meet during their lives, this project will be very useful"
